As many as 37% of all American adults have a potentially dangerous condition known as metabolic syndrome.<br />The syndrome places them at increased risk for heart disease and other health problems.<br />Researchers say that nearly half of all U.S. adults aged 60 years and older have the condition.<br />The syndrome is a cluster of conditions that includes hypertension, high blood sugar, excess body fat and abnormal cholesterol.<br />Collectively, these conditions increase a person's risk for heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.<br />According to UPI, a 2015 study found that one in three American adults has metabolic syndrome.
